PEACE ALTAR FRONTAL
Our Peace Altar Frontal is a pictorial representation of the Anglican communities of Taranaki and commemorates the Prophets Te Whiti o Rongomai, Tohu Kākahi and their followers.
During 2010, the people of Parihaka and the Anglican Faith Communities of Taranaki contributed many images which were then transformed into a single work of art - symbolic of our unity in Christ. The white feathers of the Raukura and the woven Aotearoa Cross form the central imagery.
This unique piece of embroidery was the work of many hands. A painted cloth bearing the symbols of each ministry unit in Taranaki was suspended on a frame in the Cathedral foyer and every visitor waws invited to pray for peace, and contribute a stich. The finished altar cloth bears the fruits of hundreds of hands and thousands of prayers for peace, expressed in many stitches, to the Glory of God.
